Each month, we highlight one of our many cherished members to learn a little bit more about them as well as their company. This month, we had the honor of speaking with Chris Jones. Continue reading to discover more about the path that got him where he is today:

Tell us about yourself and what you do?

I own and operate a collections agency, Apace Collections. We emphasize the collection of commercial and consumer debt. I have previously worked in a management position, for the nightlife scene here, in Palm Desert. The industry, like most, took a hit during COVID. I saw an opportunity to start up what I knew I would always be around – collections!

How did you get started in your industry?

A good friend shared with me his way of making a living. I thought it was a great career, one where I would have the ability to develop my own company. So, I started in Seattle – and learned the ins and outs of the business for around 11 years. After years of hard work and dedication, I gained knowledge and experience in the industry. I was lucky enough to not only start my own company, but watch it grow through years of success, and eventually, sell it to begin my new journey here in the Desert.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

First and foremost, my daughter. Second, I am proud of myself – being someone who only made it to the 9th grade, I felt the odds were against me. Yet I was resilient, I not only made it out, but I created a very successful life for myself. That I am very proud of.

What is something about your business that most people do not know?

A collection agency does not generally get a positive reaction. Over the years, I have seen first-hand the toll these debts can take on people. I am aware that I do not thoroughly understand what everyone is going through.  That is why we take a “counselor” approach rather than the typical aggressive collector approach. That is what sets Apace Collections apart from others. Our goal is to get a “win” for all parties involved. Being compassionate and caring for our customers and clients is what is important and has proven to be most successful.

What would be your dream job?

I would LOVE to be a Professional Golfer! The chance to travel around the world, play on the nicest courses, and just enjoy life! I have always admired the ability athletes have to influence others – I can only imagine the feeling they get to be able to inspire younger generations to be great too! As well as the admiration they get for their talent and athletic abilities.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

I hope to continue to grow the business and eventually turn it over to my partner to operate. If I can get the business to a point where I feel comfortable stepping away, I hope to be somewhere on a beach in Cancun in 5 years!!

What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

I love to enjoy the fine things in life!!! Good food, good company, good music, and GOLF! Anytime I get the chance, I go to the course to play!

Why did you choose Fusion Workplaces Palm Desert? How has Fusion Workplaces helped you and your business succeed?

I was looking for a space to start things up with plans to grow of course. This office fits those needs exactly. At some point, we will hopefully outgrow the space but for now, it is a great place to be productive. It is a wonderful place with a great environment.
