At Fusion Workplaces, we take pride in getting to know each of our members on a level that dives deeper than the surface. This month, we are highlighting Ian Symmonds, President of Ian Symmonds & Associates, Inc. Continue reading below to get to know more about Ian and how his company has paved the way in the strategic research industry.

Tell us about yourself and what you do?
I run a global strategic and research firm for schools, colleges, and non-profits. We work primarily on strategy, leadership, and marketing effectiveness with our clients. We have over 1000 clients encompassing every state, 20 countries, and have been in business for 17 years.

How did you get started in your industry?

I worked in college and school administration for many years at four different organizations. I learned early on the transformative power of education and non-profits in culture and communities and dedicated a career to helping these organizations. After 15 years of leadership experience with these schools, I founded a firm dedicated to leading these organizations to realize their preferred future.

What is something about your business that most people do not know?

I have traveled four million air miles in service of our work! I fly a lot!

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

I measure my success through the work of my clients. So, I hope in five years that my clients have led innovations in education, pioneered new levels of access to their services, and create new pathways to education that have not previously existed.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?

In a previous life, I was a tennis professional, playing on the satellite circuit and teaching at various clubs and programs. I still actively train in tennis.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

I am an avid motorcyclist.  You will occasionally see my black Indian Scout sitting outside of my office at Fusion. I really enjoy riding in So Cal and taking short trips throughout the desert Southwest.
