Tom Fishburne, author, CEO and Founder of Marketoonist, once said, “The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing.” Easier said than done. Getting the word out about your products and services can seem like a daunting task. When facing this obstacle, it’s a good idea to seek help from professional marketing companies. This month we sat down with Lewis Carruthers, marketing manager with Chella Valley Premier Marketing, to discuss his company, what he does when not working and why he chose Fusion Workplaces Palm Desert.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
Chella Valley Premier Marketing is a sales and marketing company. The easiest way to explain what we do is; we advertise for the Fortune 10 clients here in the Coachella Valley. We work with companies such as Verizon, Sprint, ATT, Airbnb, UBER, and our number 1 client is currently ATT/Direct TV. I am the program director and I oversee all the programs to make sure that they are advertised correctly.
How did you get started in your industry?
I owned a franchise in Las Vegas, however, after I looked over the franchise, I realized I was not actually an owner. So, I looked into other companies that made their investors true owners of what they do. I came across a company called Las Vegas Premier Marketing – Owed by Joey Ortiz who explained the entire company to me.
After a couple of days, I made my decision and decided that this was what I wanted for my family and myself. He explained the business and the management in the training program in which many of our clients have interests due to the fact that our Fortune 10 clients are always growing and looking for the next best talent. The program was nine months and I completed the program in 4 months and —- here we are in Coachella Valley as Chella Valley Premier Marketing.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
That it is not just a marketing and advertising company, however, we are actually a management in training company as well. Basically, what we do is hire people that we know have the potential to run a part of the branch of business that we need to fill. They get on the job experience and a great lucrative career.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
Before the end of this calendar year, I plan to expand my talents and consumer focus dynamic to Northern Utah as well as Central Colorado. It all starts with making a genuine connection with the community. If you can’t empathize with the people, you can’t help them. In 5 years, I plan on leaving my legacy here at Fusion Workplaces — from there, I will be a National Consultant where I will be running 50-80 outside deals like Chella Valley helping more people become business owners.
Tell me about yourself?
I hail from Las Vegas, NV and spent 10 years serving in the United States Air Force before deciding to focus on business. Upon completion of my time in the military, I owned and operated a successful glass repair company for several years before selling it to explore new ventures.
I am now 37, I have 6 children and hold a bachelor’s degree in Business. I have a fiancé and am planning on getting married when she picks the date. I like to go to the gym, read books, and make money. My new venture is investing the money I make in Commercial Real Estate. I would like to buy properties that will potentially house more of the businesses that I will run and be a part of.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
I love my family and spending time with my children. I am passionate about my children and the time I spend creating a legacy for them.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
I like to go to the gym, read books, and make money. My new venture is investing the money I make in Commercial Real Estate.
Why did you choose Fusion Workplaces and how has working here helped your business?
It started with a professional look and feel both outside and inside. The feeling I got when I saw the center was the best I have experienced in a long time, it kind of felt like home. Also, having a staff member at the front greeting our potential employees is one of the best things a company can do to set the stage for success.
Fusion Workplaces Palm Desert is in the center of a Valley that has a main highway running straight through it. Naturally, operating out of Palm Desert allows me to maintain an active role in the lives of my family while also taking advantage of the heavily saturated consumer electronics market. I have always said, “When it’s your time to step up, you can’t fight that urge. You have to trust that your instincts and your knowledge are going to steer you in the direction of success.
This is an opportunity for me to prove what my team and I can do, and we intend to take full advantage of it. Additionally, we plan to offer a completely new dynamic to the Coachella Valley from an educational customer service and marketing standpoint that’s never been seen here before. The consistent goal is to offer these services to the community while simultaneously growing our presence here in the Valley.
During our first month here at Fusion Workplaces, Chella Valley Premier Marketing increased the collective revenue of its clients by just over $20,000, a feat never before seen in the region.
