Did you know that each person on Earth requires at least 20 to 50 liters of clean, safe water a day for drinking, cooking, and simply keeping themselves clean? As we have seen with the Flint, MI water crisis over the last few years, clean water is something many take for granted but without it; we can’t survive.
This month we sat down with Scott Rogers of Hazen and Sawyer to discuss how his company makes a positive impact for clean water, his background and why he chose Fusion Worksplaces Palm Desert.
Tell us about your company and what you do?
Hazen and Sawyer is an environmental engineering firm specializing in all things water – water, wastewater, and stormwater. Currently, we are working on projects for Indio Water Authority, Coachella Valley Water District, City of Banning, Myoma Dunes Water Company, and Valley Sanitary District. Our mission it to provide our clients with exceptional service and sensible technical solutions for their water management challenges.
How did you get started in your industry?
I got started in the industry when I was in college. I was an intern for the City’s engineering and planning departments.
What is something about your business that most people do not know?
Our firm is known on the east coast, so we are building our brand on the west coast. Hazen’s corporate office is located in New York where the office has done large projects for the City of New York.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
We are committed to staying in the Coachella Valley. I live in the Valley. In the next five years, I hope to grow our business and make an impact on the community by working and participating in community events.
Tell me a little about your background
I was born and raised in Washington State in a town called Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. It is about 90 miles north of Seattle. I went to Washington State University studying mechanical engineering. I have an MBA from the University of Redlands and currently working on my Ph.D. in Business Administration from Northcentral University. I have three Labrador retrievers.
Other than work, what are you passionate about?
I am passionate about home improvement, my dogs and taking trips around the state.
What types of activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
Some of the activities or hobbies I enjoy outside of work include home improvement, golf, reading, and traveling.
Why did you choose Fusion Workplaces and how has working here helped your business?
Fusion workspaces Palm Desert offered an office space that met our firm’s needs at the current time. Hopefully, it will lead to helping our business get connected with other area businesses where there are synergies between our organizations.
